Further to our blog on April 1st (ALBERTA BUDGET – LAND TITLE FEE INCREASE), the newly elected NDP government has cancelled the proposed fee increase that was to take place July 1st. This was just confirmed to us by the Land Title Office.

Alberta Government Announcement

The government also announced that it will not proceed with a number of fees imposed on Albertans by the previous government. The government will eliminate the health levy and scrap proposed fee increases on:

vehicle licenses and registration;
land title searches and mortgages; and
marriage licenses, birth certificates and death certificates.
